    PRESIDENT’S LETTER – JULY/AUGUST, 2010

     

    Good Greetings!

     

    One way to cope with the summer heat is to look forward to the refreshing days of Fall. AMM is preparing to meet the season with educational and fun events for our members.


    On Thursday, September 16th, we’ll be hosting the 2010 Doctors’ Choice Awards reception from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Comix in Manhattan. Join us for an exciting afternoon of networking, drinks and great food.  We’ll honor friends and colleagues at the awards presentation and celebrate the winners at a decadent dessert reception with drinks.


    The Doctors' Choice Awards program was established by AMM in 2003 to determine the effectiveness of journal ads for pharmaceutical products.  Every year physicians are polled by Readex Research, an independent firm, to determine which ads prompted their positive response.  Invitations in AMM member medical publications and an email campaign direct physicians to a designated Web site to view the ads.

    In October we’re offering our members another fun opportunity, this time a charitable one, Bowling for Breast Cancer, on Thursday, October 7th, 6 to 8 p.m. at Leisure Time Bowling in the Port Authority district.  Details are available on our website and registration will open soon.


    Our June educational meeting was well-attended and very enlightening. Charles Benaiah, President of Sequence Media, introduced his company’s innovative solutions for personalizing communication with busy doctors and streamlining CPM for marketers. His presentation is available for download on the AMM website.  At the same meeting David Best, MD and Michael Banks, MD, Founders of The Doctor’s Channel, provided further inspiration for communicating with medical providers. On their site (www.thedoctorschannel.com) physicians can read articles, take CME courses, talk with each other, and keep up with their profession.


    We now have new documentation to show your clients that journal ads enhance the impact of detailing.  2010 AMM Gold Sponsor Kantar Media has published a report that proves it in ways that you can use.
